Reverend Sparrow was licensed to preach the gospel in 1976 at the St. Stephen Church in Chesapeake, VA. and also served as Associate Minister July 1975 through October 1984. He was ordained for ministry at New Grafton Baptist Church, Newport News VA in 1985 and served as Assistant Pastor until April 1990; when he became a Senior Pastor; providing leadership through April 1999. Additionally, he served for three years as First Vice Moderator, Tidewater Peninsula Baptist Association with 60-plus churches in the local association.

On April 26, 2015, Reverend Sparrow became the ninth pastor to the people of God at the Greater Corinth Baptist Church. He continuously advocates doing all things “decent and in order” which works in concert with his strong management and administrative skills. He believes that one of the weapons used against the body of Christ is ignorance of the Word; and, once replaced with knowledge – the Christian believer truly becomes empowered to cooperate as a unified body moving in the same direction. Thus, he has cast an eye toward a vibrant future of working in concert and in harmony with the people of God at this branch of Zion.

He is married to Linda, a retired Senior Master Sergeant from the United States Air Force.  Together they have 7 adult children and enjoy an empty nest. In his spare time – he plays golf!
