Dr. Carl Johnson
Pastor Emeritus
Reverend Carl Johnson was born in Kansas City MO, and reared in Kansas City KS. He is the son of the late Dr. A.L. Johnson, Sr. and Mrs. Eddie Mae Johnson. He was licensed and ordained from the New Light Baptist Church in Bonner Springs, KS where his father was Pastor.
From December of 1964 through November of 1967, Dr. Johnson served his country as a member of the United States Army in the position of Chaplain's Assistant. He spent 18 months in West Germany. Dr. Johnson received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1971 from the University of Missouri, Kansas City; a Masters Degree in Religious Education in 1978 from Central Baptist, Theological Seminar, Kansas City, KS; and a Doctor of Ministry degree in 1987 from Saint Paul School of Theology, Kansas City, Missouri. Dr. Johnson completed his doctoral dissertation for Doctor of Ministry through the work "Call Waiting, Exploring the Issues of Lay-empowerment" with a special emphasis on women in ministry.

Doctor Johnson has led many workshops, seminars, and revivals throughout the country. In 1996, he led the first revival experience at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs CO. He has served as Pastor of Ninth Street Baptist Church, Lawrence, KS; Park Avenue Baptist Church, Kansas City MO; New Hope Baptist Church, Anchorage AK; and Greater Corinth Baptist Church, San Antonio TX. Pastor Johnson retired from the Pastorate on October 11, 2009 after 50 years in ministry and 40 years as a Pastor. Greater Corinth Baptist Church conferred upon Dr. Johnson the honor of “Pastor Emeritus” November 12, 2017. Doctor Johnson has been an adjunct Professor at several universities and seminaries. He served as President of Guadalupe School of Religion in San Antonio for five years and as an Adjunct Instructor at Baptist University of the Americas in San Antonio.

He has been married to Helen Marie Ellis for 50 plus years, and they are the parents of two daughters; Arla Janeen and Daphnee Elaine. He and Helen are the proud grandparents of Sebastian Zane.
